Introducing Lekkalu: Free Personal Finance App

Welcome to Lekkalu

I’m excited to introduce Lekkalu, a free personal finance Progressive Web App (PWA) that puts you in complete control of your financial data. In a world where every app seems to collect and sell your data, I’m taking a different approach: zero-knowledge architecture.

What is Zero-Knowledge Architecture?

Zero-knowledge architecture means we literally cannot access your financial data even if we wanted to. Here’s how it works:

1. Local Encryption

When you enter a transaction, it’s encrypted on your device using AES-256-CBC encryption before being stored. Your encryption key is derived from your password using PBKDF2 (10,000 iterations), and this key never leaves your device.

2. No Server Storage

Your financial data is stored in IndexedDB (a local browser database), not on our servers. We only store your email and user ID for authentication that’s it.

3. True Privacy

Because your data is encrypted locally and never sent to our servers, we cannot:

• Read your transactions or account balances
• Sell your data to advertisers
• Be forced to hand over your data
• Be hacked for your financial information (it’s not on our servers)

Works Offline

Thanks to our PWA architecture and local storage, Lekkalu works even without internet. Record transactions on a flight, in the subway, or anywhere your data is always accessible.

Multi-Currency Support

Track accounts in different currencies with automatic exchange rate conversion. Perfect for digital nomads and international investors.

Achievement System

Stay motivated with our gamified achievement system. Unlock badges for:

How to Get Started

Getting started is easy:

1. Visit the app: Go to app.lekkalu.app (I highly recommend using it as a native mobile app by installing it on your device following the steps shown when you first open the site.)
2. Create an account: Just email and password no name, phone, or address required
3. Start tracking: Add your first transaction and account
4. Explore features: Set up accounts, goals, and investments

That’s it! No credit card, no subscription, no data mining, no linking to your banks or credit cards.
