Our Mission
Lekkalu was born from a simple belief: Fianancial education and tools must be for everyone.
In an era where finance apps lock basic features behind meaningless paywalls trying to find a good personal fiannce tracking solution was next to impossible if not for sheets, which is not very intuitive or convenient for everyone. So I decided to build an app. During the buidling journey found all other issues users face in like data security, ease of access, cloud dependency etc and thought to work towards that. Lekkalu don't/can't sell your transaction history to advertisers or store your sensitive data on servers you don't control, Lekkalu uses zero-knowledge encryption to keep your financial records completely private and on your device.
Our Story
"Lekkalu" comes from my native language Telugu, meaning "finances" or "accounts."
Growing up, I watched my parents diligently write down their daily lekkalu in a notebook every evening tracking every expense, income, building financial awareness through simple habit and discipline.
That ritual inspired this app. Lekkalu is more than finance tracking it's a habit-building tool designed to help you develop the same mindful relationship with money. A tool to improve lives, one transaction at a time.
When I started building Lekkalu, I have tried dozens of finance apps, but they all had the same frustrating issues:
- Data stored on third-party servers (risk of breaches)
- Tracking and analytics sold to advertisers
- Basic features locked behind expensive subscriptions
- No way to export data (vendor lock-in)
So I built what I wished existed and personally use: a completely private, offline-first finance app that respects your data. Lekkalu encrypts everything locally using AES-256 encryption before storing it in your browser's IndexedDB. Your password never leaves your device. Your transactions never touch the servers.
